About Me
- Belfast Bride
- Hello and welcome. I'm a bride in Belfast who grew up on Father of the Bride and dreams of a wedding at the Plaza or an outdoor ceremony in a private home in Nantucket. I've big dreams and a little budget. So with this blog I hope to share with you how I'm trying to get a very personal, bespoke, luxurious wedding in Northern Ireland with a little budget squeezing and creativity. Or as I have come to see it a Vera Wang wedding on a Walmart budget.

Groom's Cake? The Cigar Bar.
The first time I ever heard of a groom's cake was watching Steel Magnolia's when they made the Armadillo cake with the grey icing. Groom's cakes aren't typically something we have here, but I suppose the sentiment is to have something at the wedding that signifies that the wedding isn't all about you :). I read about the idea of having a cigar bar at the reception for the groom and quite liked it. Basically, at the bar or somewhere at the reception set up a little counter of cigars & matches and invite the gentlemen (or ladies) at the wedding to enjoy. And hey its a nice way to introduce those diner matches I'm collecting.
